If it is not known who used the machine, when and how, neither unauthorised use can be prevented nor can it be established how damage occurred.
The operator is identified by card or PIN before using the machine. Without authorisation the machine does not start; with it, the functions available are defined. Untrained use and unauthorised machine movement are prevented at the outset.
The system records how many hours each operator worked on each machine, how many alarms occurred in that time and how the machine was used. The record is not for finding someone to blame but for seeing where training is needed and understanding what happened after damage — with a record, the argument ends.
The operator tracking module integrates with the machine control system and the operator screen where one exists. If telemetry is installed, operator records can also be monitored remotely; together the two allow per-operator comparison across the fleet.
